What is environment?

We generally think of the environment as being outside of ourselves. But just think about it for a moment. If we look at our planet from outer space and see the globe, we are part of that picture. Yes, we are too small to be seen by the physical eye but we are in that picture. So technically we are part of the environment not separate from it.

Our environment consists of land and water. There are many creatures both in the water and on the land. All connected in what we call the web of life. In this environment, the human creatures grow food from the land and drink the water that is potable.

What is food?

Food starts from a seed and that seed grows in the soil and we humans eat various parts of the end result, either the root or the above ground part. Humans also kill animals and fish for food as well. There is a whole cycle of life involved here.

Have you ever marveled at the miracle of the seed? Inside the seed is an imprint of a plant along with the initial nutrients needed to get the seedling stage. The seeds need some good soil, the right temperature, oxygen, water and sun in order to germinate. Each seed produces a life form with its own circulatory system and roots for assimilation of soil nutrients. Each seed knows every possible detail of the plant or tree it is to become. All that information is wrapped up in a tiny seed. Isn’t that amazing?

When we grow our food or we buy it from stores (who buy the food from food producers through a whole distribution channel), we get the results of the seed interacting with the environment. When we grow the food ourselves, we are in control of the kind of soil we use, the fertilizers and the growing conditions like where we place the seed. We can choose not to spray any pesticides or herbicides and have everything organically grown. When we purchase from a store we have to be more careful of our choices. There is some organic produce available but it may take some extra effort to find it.

As the plants grow, they take in water and mineral elements from the soil through the root system. They absorb carbon dioxide from the air and through the action of light, directed by chlorophyll, liberate oxygen into the environment. This process is called photosynthesis and the chlorophyll makes more simple substances such as sugars, starch, cellulose, acids, lignin, tannins, amino acids, etc. The living material of the plant is called protoplasm. Many plants have their own unique substances formed exclusive to that plant. So really plants are energy converters. This is truly a miracle when you think about it.

There are minerals in good rich soils that we can’t absorb until the plant takes them in through the root system and converts them through this whole process of photosynthesis. The energy in the earth comes through the plants and after we eat and absorb these plants, we get the kind of energy we need.

Energy vibrates.

Everything vibrates at different frequencies. Let’s think about what we are putting into our bodies. Remember we are not only physical; we are also vibrating mentally, emotionally and spiritually. So when we nourish our bodies, we are nourishing all aspects of us. Every meal gives us a chance to energize physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

All the plants and all our food vibrate. If our food has been treated in any way, that changes the vibration. There are too many factors that change the vibration to list, but bottom line, the more fake a food is, the more the vibration has been changed.

The vibration we are looking for is the one that keeps our energy high. So the more alive and untreated the food is, the more it will nourish us on all levels. So going back to we are the environment, what we do to our food, we do ourselves. What we do to our water, we do to ourselves. Everything is connected.

Our planet is in a state of disarray presently. I believe we are getting signals to remind us to go back to nature and everything natural. I hope that this blog made some connections for you. A gentle reminder to be more aware of what we are putting into our mouth if our desire is to be healthy.

Do you have a story to share? I’d love to get your feedback. Here on my blog, you’ll get commentluv. That’s great for all bloggers out there. If you leave a comment, you can provide a link back to your own blog. But you don’t have to be a blogger to leave a comment; I’m looking forward to hearing from all of you!

Stay tuned for more on the vibrational effects of food.

Recharging Your Batteries

Everything is energy, everything vibrates. When we understand this premise, it makes it easier to see that all aspects of ourselves are really just different vibrations of what we call self… physical self, emotional self, mental self, spiritual self.

When we align all the vibrations, we are in total harmony again. So true healing brings us into a state of harmony on all levels of our being.

In this post we will look at various ways to connect or reconnect with spirit. Bottom line, we are never really disconnected but we feel like we are in this age of rush, rush, hurry, hurry. Below are some ideas that will keep you connected or recharge you, or allow for a deeper connection.

1. Meditation

Basic meditation is just closing your eyes, relaxing your body and breathing. Some people meditate with a guided meditation CD or with a music CD. You can meditate inside or outside. Being in nature, by a running brook or under a tree, anywhere you find relaxing, can connect you to spirit even more and reach right into your soul.

Those who are more disciplined attempt to get beyond the thinking mind into a deeper state of relaxation and awareness.

Different meditative disciplines encompass a wide range of spiritual goals—from achievement of a higher state of consciousness, compassion and loving kindness, to greater focus, creativity or self-awareness, or simply a more relaxed and peaceful frame of mind.

2. Prayer

The use of prayer has been proven over the years to have many beneficial effects including its effect on the healing of sick or injured people. People pray for many reasons such as personal benefit or for the sake of others.

Prayer is a deliberate intentional practice. It may involve the use of words, song, or complete silence. This is another way to connect with spirit. It gives you a chance to envision and state your intentions at a higher vibrational rate.

3. Walking

Not only will you exercise your physical body including your brain hemispheres, you can relax your mind with a walking meditation. Be mindful of your breathing without trying to control it. Make sure your breathing feels natural, not artificial.

Walk with ‘soft vision’ allowing your eyes to relax and focus upon nothing, while being aware of everything. Imagine every cell of your body smiling softly. Let all worry and sadness fall away from you as you walk.

Be mindful of your walking; make each step a gesture, so that each footprint is an impression of the peace and love you feel for the universe. Walk with slow, small, deliberate, balanced footsteps as you feel the connection with spirit.

4. Gardening

Growing things gives us a profound connection with nature and with spirit. You are physically working and you participating in the act of creation. You are co-creating with nature by nurturing the plants, connecting with the soil and this reconnects you to spirit. Also the sheer beauty of a garden can nourish your soul.

If you are growing food then you get the bounty of a harvest and participate in the seasons and cycles of mother earth. This can be very grounding and centering.

5. Have fun and play

Discover activities that open up your sense of play. Get together with friends and laugh. Have dinner parties, barbecues, picnics or go out to a restaurant. Play with a pet or enjoy the company of a playful youngster. Participate in the activities that give you pleasure and enjoyment. Milk every moment for all the pleasure you can get from these activities as this vibration is the fastest way to get reconnected with spirit.

6. Take a mental break

Give yourself a break from the work you do. Take time out just to read for the joy of reading. If you enjoy puzzles, find some good ones and take time out. Listen to your favourite music; connect with the vibration of the music. Go with the flow, as they say.

Sometimes you may just need a nap or to participate in some of the ideas above to create a time out from thoughts, perceptions, memories, or emotions that keep you separate from spirit.

Enjoy the reconnection!

What do you do to recharge your batteries? I’d love to get your feedback. Here on my blog, you’ll get commentluv. That’s great for all bloggers out there. If you leave a comment, you can provide a link back to your own blog. But you don’t have to be a blogger to leave a comment; I’m looking forward to hearing from all of you!

Next week I will start a series on the environment to honour Earth Day in April.

Stay tuned.

Charlene Day

Health is a Choice Part 3 – Conscious Behavior

The human body is a self-repairing, self-regulating system that will maintain good health if we properly support it. Almost all chronic illness can be prevented or put into remission by making different choices.

On the physical level these imbalances are brought about by making inappropriate choices regarding our diets, environment, and conscious behavior. So in this post, let’s look at our behavioral choices.

First let’s define it further into conscious and unconscious behaviors. Our conscious behavior is the one we do have choice with as we are conscious that we are doing a particular behavior or action. When we are unconscious about our behavior is it a lot harder to control as we are not always aware of what or why we just did a particular action.

So in terms of this post we will refer only to conscious behaviors in terms of making good choices that respect our physical body and lead to balancing all the vibrational bodies as well.

So consciously we need to look at our behaviors around anything we think is stressful. Chronic stress causes a distortion of the body’s daily maintenance systems and processes. The physical body can literally fall apart without regular maintenance. Millions of people suffer from chronic stress. If you were to go onto Google and do a search on stress, you would see there are over a hundred million searches done on that keyword alone.

Stress has many components. It can be:

physical,

chemical or

mental/emotional stress.

Let’s look at the different actions or behaviors we can do for these different aspects of stress. The first behavior is learning new ways of dealing with stress. As the different kinds of stress are what is commonly behind our vibrational imbalance leading to illness and disease.

1. Physical stressors. There are many new behaviors we can chose including some from the previous blog posts like choosing the right foods and eliminating the ones that don’t feed our cells. Lack of water is a major physical stressor, so drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day is an essential behavior for good health.

Physical exercise is another behavior to adopt for good health. The human body was designed to be physically active. It will not function properly without a high level of activity. Without movement, the heart/lung system does not get the stimulation it needs to deliver adequate amounts of oxygen to the body’s tissues. This causes a gradual decline in health and leads to premature aging. There are many forms of exercise and finding the right one for you is important so that you feel motivated to stay with that behavior.

2. Chemical stressors. We saw in previous the blog post that choosing the right cleaning products as well as the products that touch our skin and avoiding the toxic ones were important components in our health choices.

3. Mental/emotional stressors are vast as everyone reacts to different events in their own personal way. So looking at behaviors in this category is going to be very personal. Some people choose therapy to deal with the various issues that show up that may interfere with good health. There are many ways to deal with this category of stressors and the behavioral choice here will differ from person to person.

To assess your current level of stress, take the test on Eli Bay’s website by clicking here.

A major stressor on health, I would like you to consider, is that our modern allopathic health care system promotes disease by instilling feelings of powerlessness and hopelessness in the chronically ill. Modern medicine tells the chronically ill they are powerless to act on their own, that they cannot be restored to health, only treated, and that they have no options other than the medical system. This promotes feelings of helplessness that actually lead to a further breakdown in health. When people are experiencing these feelings, it is very hard to make good choices.

Knowing that health is a choice gives people a sense of personal power, which enhances physical and emotional vitality, in fact all the vibrational bodies. Being able to visualize and feel a positive outlook for the future has a profound effect on your health.

So it is very important to understand that your body is yours and that you can make choices regardless of what other opinions are being offered. Please don’t give your power away. You have the power to make choices and chose your health and the kind of life you want to live. This is one conscious behavior, I hope you exercise. It is precious.

Next week I will cover some the ways we can connect with spirit.

Stay tuned.

Good Health is a Choice

The human body is a self repairing, self regulating system that will maintain good health if we properly support it. Illness results when we don’t listen to our body on all levels. Almost all chronic illness can be prevented or put into remission by making different choices. Illness shows up in the physical body as a result of long term imbalances on all the body’s vibrational levels usually beginning in the outer bodies and showing up finally on the physical body.

On the physical level, these imbalances are brought about by making inappropriate choices regarding our diets, environment and conscious behavior. By knowing what our bad choices are we can change these habits, choose new actions, and effect changes in our biochemistry that will redirect our lives toward health and well being.

Here are 7 tips on how our diet choices affect our health.

1. Bad choices for health include white bread and flour (it can stick up your bowels). These products have been stripped of their fibre and break down quickly in the body. Better choices are whole grains such as brown rice, millet, barley, wheat, oats, buckwheat, rye, and amaranth. Whole grain bread which is dark, dense and heavy and whole grain pastas are good in moderation.

2. Simple sugars such as white sugar can lead to diabetes. Avoid artificial sweeteners because they have not been tested properly. Instead, use complex sugars (e.g. honey, maple syrup, molasses, rice syrup, barley malt), which are broken down more slowly.

3. Experts feel margarine is the biggest contributor to cancer because it is hydrogenated. Free radicals are formed through consuming margarine, hydrogenated oils and fried foods. A better choice would be to use cold pressed or cold expelled oils and store them in the refrigerator to prevent them from going rancid.

4. Be careful with meats since most are tainted with chemicals. Look for free range, naturally fed animals.

5. Cow’s milk is a by-product of the drugs being fed to the animals, it builds up mucous and 90% of white people have lactose intolerance. Yogurt, ice cream, and cheese from the cow are also bad choices. If you crave dairy products, try rice or almond milk or goat’s milk.

6. Limit alcohol consumption as it increases the risk of osteoporosis. Eliminate coffee. The caffeine is toxic and it taxes your adrenal glands, which are essential for stress management. Drink only SWISS PROCESS WATER DECAF coffees if you have to drink coffee. Of course we all know about the hazards of smoking.

7. The ideal choice for good health is a diet that is rich in organic, whole, unprocessed foods. The foods that are the best choice include complex carbohydrates (vegetables, fruits, beans, legumes, whole grains). Increasing your intake of fruits and vegetables is important and have at least one portion a day of raw vegetables. Eat plenty of seeds, nuts and sprouts.

Spirit or Soul Qualities of Healing

Our bodies are made of different vibrations. Basically our physical bodies vibrate at a slow enough speed that we can see and touch them. But that is not all of us. We have parts of our bodies that vibrate at the unseen level. This is where our mental, emotional and spiritual bodies reside. Auras are indicators of these unseen levels of our bodies.

Most people have heard of the word chakras and they are energy vortexes that connect all the aspects of our bodies, the seen and the unseen. As well, there are pathways of energy known as acupuncture meridians running through our physical body. Along these acupuncture meridians are points which act like mini vortexes. So there are many connection points of energy flow in our body right down to each cell. These connection points are the openings for life energy to flow into and out of our aura.

The main points of flow or connection are the seven major chakras. They are wheel-like vortices which are considered the focal points for the reception and transmission of life energy. Their function is to vitalize the physical body and connect the mental, emotional and spiritual levels of consciousness.

These seven main chakras are described as being aligned in an ascending column from the base of the spine to the top of the head. Chakras are invisible to the human eye, but they can be perceived intuitively by trained energy workers.

Each chakra relates to emotions and physical aspects of our being and these are clues as to which chakra is blocked when we are out of balance.

Root Chakra, which is located in your pelvic area and at the end of your tailbone. The base or root chakra is related to security, survival and also to basic human potentiality.

Sacral Chakra, which is located two finger widths below your belly button, is related to emotion, sexuality and creativity.

Solar Plexus Chakra, which is located in the soft spot at the base of your breast bone, is related to energy, assimilation and digestion.

Heart Chakra, which is located in the middle of the breastbone, is related to love, equilibrium, and well-being.

Throat Chakra, which is located in the soft spot at the top of your breast bone, is said to be related to communication, expression and growth.

Brow or Third Eye Chakra, which is located about one inch above the bridge of your nose, is the chakra of awareness and of light.

Crown Chakra, which is located on the top/center of your head, is said to be the chakra of consciousness, the master chakra that controls all the others.

So these energy centers or vortexes are the connection with the unseen energies and give us a direct relationship with the Creative Life Force. When you feel joy, all the circuits are open and the life force can be fully received and this results in a state of health and well being. When you feel guilt or blame or fear or anger, the circuits are hindered and the life force cannot flow as effectively. This is when we experience ill health.

Be sure to read over past blog posts to get the whole picture of how our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies all relate to our health and well being.

Going With the Flow

In my last blog post, we discussed how healing happens on all levels; let’s look now at the mental, emotional level of our thoughts and feelings. We are filled with thousands of thoughts daily, moment by moment. Most of these thoughts go flitting by, but when an emotion is attached to a thought, it remains with our consciousness longer and elicits a vibration.

There are basically two emotions. One feels good and one feels bad to us. But it doesn’t matter whether the feelings are deemed good or bad as they are just vibrations. All these feelings with their corresponding thoughts vibrate with no judgment. When we place meaning on the feelings, we lose the real message.

The vibration is what we need to be paying attention to, not judging the feeling. If everything is energy, it is easy to see that our thoughts and feelings vibrate as energy too. The Source or the Universe is always responding to our vibration. So if we are looking for total healing, then the vibration has to be a match.

What is holistic or total health?

All the vibrations are in harmony with all that is. We feel connected with our Source or Creator or Collective Wisdom energy. People describe this as feeling at peace and in harmony with all that is, feeling total gratitude and appreciation, feeling bliss and love. No matter how you describe it, it means that we are in total alignment with who-we-really-are.

If we know that the way we feel is our indicator of how connected we are to Source, then we know what we can focus on to create total health. Conversely, if we are out of alignment in terms of our vibration and feel cut off from our Source energy, then we will experience the vibration of dis-ease.

What do we need in terms of healing? All aspects of ourselves need to be in a vibrational alignment…physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Healing comes to us in response to our vibrations of good-feeling thoughts. Every day when we don’t affirm or vibrate that we are healthy; then we are in a default pattern and whatever vibration is flitting by may affect our health.

The good news is that have complete control over our own thoughts, emotions, and resulting vibrations and when we work on improving these, we can turn around anything including ill health or dis-ease. We are the creators of our own life experience, and as the creator of our experience, it is important that we understand that we are creating with our thoughts and the associated feelings which are vibrating either positively or negatively. Let’s choose the vibration of health.

What do you think? I’d love to get your feedback. Here on my blog, you’ll get commentluv. That’s great for all bloggers out there.
